Providing BTEX & VOC Reduction for Amine Plant Vent Streams

Federal clean air regulations establish thresholds for BTEX and VOC emissions from amine plant vent streams. Operations which exceed these thresholds can be subject to MACT and Title V permitting requirements, implementation of which can involve expensive, fuel-intensive incineration of high-CO2 amine still vent streams.

Bexar Energy has developed its patented (U. S. Patent no. 6,605,138) Lo-TEX™ process technology as a means to reduce BTEX and VOC emissions from amine still vent streams. In many plants, application of Lo-TEX™ technology can reduce
BTEX and VOC emissions in the still vent by up to 75%, sufficiently low to allow high-CO2 acid gases to be vented without incineration, thus avoiding fuel-intensive, inefficient, acid gas incineration schemes. Application of Lo-TEX™ technology to an existing plant involves a cost-effective retrofit, requiring little or no plant downtime.
